Yorkshire Fencing is pleased to be hosting another Training Hub at which fencers can learn new techniques and improve their abilities. It is open to fencers who are aged 10 and over.

Last Yorkshire Youth League competition in 2018 will take place in Harrogate on 24 November 2018. Thropies will be presented at the end of the competition to the season winners. Entry form and details can be found here: Harrogate YYL form 2018

Entries: Members will register to enter an event by accessing the sport80 platform. Events appear in the ‘Event’ section of an individual’s account or can be accessed via https://bf.sport80.com/events
The Yorkshire Youth Championship is only open to fencers with the Yorkshire Region specified on their British Fencing Membership. This event is the British Youth Championship qualifier for the Yorkshire Region and fencers can only enter one region qualifer per year.
In the U10 and U12 events the DE fights are to 10 hits in 3 bouts of 2 minutes with a gap of 1 minute. All pool fights will be to five hits and last 3 minutes.
Masks must have a back strap and be in good condition. Plastrons must be worn and gloves must overlap the sleeve. Any fencer using a size five blade will be expected to be wearing an 800 Newton plastron and also 350 Newton breeches. Note that for the BYC finals qualifiers will be expected to have full kit. All sabre fencers are expected to have a glove that conforms to the new FIE specification of 800 Newton.
Qualification & Finals:
The top FOUR fencers in each of the events will qualify to enter the National finals which will take place at The English Institute of Sport, Sheffield on the May Bank holiday weekend. Details of when the finals are to be held are outlined on British Fencing website. In the event that there are more than 16 fencers in an event then the top four plus one fencer for every four fencers will qualify for the nationals. We will aim to publish the number of people qualifying for each event on the day.
Under 10 Events:
The under 10 events are not linked to the BYC national finals. Fencers who wish to enter the national under 10 finals can do so via British Fencing.
